Hofstra Policies

About This Website

This website provides a centralized location for Hofstra University’s administrative policies.

A University policy is a University-wide requirement or guideline for members of the Hofstra community. These policies support the University’s mission, promote consistency and operational excellence, and help the University meet its legal and regulatory obligations. Policies are organized by the division responsible for issuing them and are also tagged by topic and scenario, making it easy to find the guidance you need.

This website is the result of a University-wide effort to bring together Hofstra’s non-academic policies, which were previously maintained by different offices and available across separate websites, into a single location. Each policy has been reformatted into a standardized structure with consistent administrative details and clearly stated purpose and scope sections. The substance of each policy is unchanged, and the content appears as it was previously published. Because some policies were carried over from older, historical documents, certain details, such as the original effective date or the date last revised, may not be available; these are noted where applicable.

The version of a policy published on this website is the official and authoritative version. Printed or downloaded copies may become outdated, so always refer to this site for the most current version.

Finding a Policy

You can find policies in several ways:

  • Browse by division: Use the Division filter to browse policies by the division that issued them (for example, Finance or Human Resources).
  • Browse by category or scenario: Use the Category filter to browse policies by topic or task (for example, event planning).
  • Search by keyword: Enter a keyword or phrase in the search bar to search policy titles and content.

Internal Policies

Policies marked with a lock icon are available only to Hofstra faculty, staff, and students after signing in with their Hofstra credentials.

Information on Each Policy Page

Each policy page begins with an Administrative Details section that includes:

  • Responsible executive
  • Responsible office
  • Policy owner
  • Effective date
  • Next scheduled review date

If you have questions about a specific policy, please contact the responsible office listed on the policy page.

Proposing a New Policy or a Revision

New administrative policies and substantive revisions are developed and approved through the process outlined in the Policy on Administrative Policies, which is overseen by the Administrative Policy Committee.

To propose a new policy or recommend changes to an existing policy, contact Jean Peden Christodoulou, Vice President for Administration and Chief of Staff to the President, at president@hofstra.edu.
